π Taxi: When You Need Speed & Comfort
Too tired to walk? Seoul taxis are safe and affordable compared to other big cities.
Just make sure you pick the right color!
β
1. The Standard: General Taxi

β
Look for: Silver, White, or Orange cars.
Base Fare: Starts at 4,800 KRW
Night Surcharge: Fares go up by 20~40% late at night (10:00 PM β 04:00 AM)
- Tip: The most expensive time is 11 PM β 2 AM!
β
2. The Smart Way: Use an App!

β
Don't wave your hand! It's hard to catch a taxi on the street, especially at night.
Download: Kakao T or Uber (UT)
- No Korean phone number needed.
- You can see the estimated price before you ride. No scams!
β
3. Premium & Large Taxis

β
Deluxe (Black) Taxi: Black cars with a gold stripe. More space, safer driving, but more expensive (Base fare: ~7,000 KRW)
Jumbo Taxi: Big vans for up to 9 people. Look for the sign "JUMBO TAXI (λννμ)"
β
4. β οΈ WARNING: Beware of Call Vans

β
Do NOT mistake a "Call Van" for a Jumbo Taxi.
What is it? They are technically "cargo trucks" for luggage, NOT taxis.
The Trap: They do not use meters and might charge you a huge fee (negotiated price)
How to distinguish: If it says "VAN" or "CALL VAN" on the side, DO NOT GET IN unless you are moving furniture!
β
5. International Taxi
What: Official taxis with English/Chinese/Japanese speaking drivers.
Look for: Orange or Black cars with "International Taxi" on the door.
Best for: Airport pickups (Flat rates available)
